Masks
by Monifa S.
Wear your mask!
Cover your face!
Protect yourself
all over this place.
I can’t see you,
You can’t see me.
Don’t come too close.
No coughing. No sneezing.
No hugging. No touching.
The eyes are the windows to the soul,
but I can’t get past that mask that covers your truth.
Are you smiling, laughing, crying?
Are you angry, hateful, spying?
Our human experience has taken on a whole other entity;
from a pandemic that left us screaming for identity.
You WON’T wear one!
Oh, but I MUST!
I LOVE you too much to spread this curse.
Because I am Rahab, too.
Monica, loved it!
