I Am Rahab…The Redeemed

I Am Rahab…The Redeemed
by JC Miller
When you’re young time has no meaning. I’m at the age now where every second matters.

After losing my mother in 2017, I became acutely aware of life’s worth and realized that I wasn’t living. I was being consumed by life. My children, husband, church, family, and friends all came before me. I have a huge servant’s heart, and I know that that’s okay, but I was missing rainbows, sunrises, and flowers blooming. I was taking care of my children, but the routine of meeting all of their needs somehow got in the way of consciously being there to watch them grow. Caring for my mother at the end of her life cycle brought about clarity…a vivid realization of my place in life. We’re not simply here to take up space in this rat race. We’re here to be light. We need each other.

I started writing again, at first to hide and live through characters that diverted my attention from my mother’s health; then, to live and introduce them to a world that is also dying.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone. In hindsight, I approach this new year with anticipation and declaration of full vision; 20/20 in 2020! I want to finish what I started in Diamond Daughters Inc., which is helping women push through adversities and trauma by uplifting, educating, and equipping them. I Am Rahab is a platform for social identity. A reminder that we all have battles but God’s unfailing love is working on our behalf. Through our mess, He has a message. Who He calls He redeems.

Romans 8:30-31 (KJV) And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Know your worth. Take your place. Claim your victory…because we are Rahab too.

  1. I wrote this several years ago after several women had been murdered.
And and one in particular was a very close friend of a young lady I knew well and it really crushed her. And watching her go through that and really thinking about abused women, I had to put those thoughts on paper. Speak up for those that aren’t speaking up for whatever reason.
