ASK JANICE … Mindful Thinking In Place Of Burnout

Ask Janice

Welcome to this segment on ‘Stinkin Thinkin’. Change old habits into peaceful and measurable thoughts. Let us begin by taking a look at how powerful our words are.

Words can either make or break us–causing problems in our health, wellness, and social lives. As a rule of thumb, we should be careful and mindful of unhelpful thoughts. Negative thoughts have the ability to make us feel defeated, in a rut, or just plain old burnt out. Thinking helpful or positive thoughts, on the other hand, nurtures your Mind, Soul, and Spirit through acts of kindness, mindfulness, meditation, and basic Love. These types of thoughts help to reinforce self-trust, as well as nurture our well-being both mentally and spiritually.

Changing your mindset and words sounds like an easy task. However, it takes time to change old habits–especially ones brewed in negativity and constant letdowns. Generational curses spoken over you can need sessions of a real deliverance, and the best deliverance is rejecting bad habits, squashing old memories, and living in a place of peace with oneself and with God.

Ask yourself a question. Is this behavior helpful or hurtful?

If you are being taught negative projection, then you are capable of negative projection–and it may seem right to you. However, negative projectiles can be like poison to those that we encounter.

Negative thoughts can be heavy to carry. They can usher in some dark places. My best advice is to turn down the volume within your mind. Find yourself a place of quietness, take a deep breath, and ground your spirit. Even though the weight of the world may be on your shoulders, or it may seem like nothing is going quite as planned–there is always hope in God’s Word.

I can do all things through Christ, who gives me strength.

 Now that’s a RESET.

Changing your words or habitual actions is a way to train your thought patterns. The process isn’t always easy, but the final result can be amazing. God is a very present help in the time of trouble. He gives us the ability to move mountains and overcome adversities. Do not get caught up in mind traps because they are truly pathways into ‘Stinkin Thinkin.’

Let’s take a look at some examples.

  • Emotional Reasoning
This happens when you base your decisions on feelings, especially when burned out. They resemble thoughts like –if I feel it–then it must be true.
  • Labeling
This occurs when you begin to Name Call either yourself or other people– including family and friends, words like dumb, stupid, slow, etc.
  • Perfectionist
This happens when you believe there is no other way to accomplish something– and your way is the only way.
  • Destructive Criticism
Happens when you expect the worst, even before things begin. Or you never believe that it will happen because it hasn’t yet.

As you refocus on change, you can rebuild awareness and trust in God, who knows exactly where you are and what you need. Letting go is the hard part. But in the words of my sweet mother…

Quote

Sage words of wisdom: The wheel won’t turn until you turn it…meaning we possess the ability to make change, but change must happen within us.

I hope this will bring peace and comfort in knowing that the best is yet to come…I thought it, I believe it, and it is so.

Let’s walk through the process and address some common causes of burnout together.

  1. Janice, I love your piece on Mindfulness, and the one thing I will tuck in my memory is “the best deliverance is rejecting bad habits!” This entire piece is nothing but the truth. Thank you for your peaceful tone and very valuable tips.
